All Nippon Airways has reported a technical hitch with the first of its two new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, following an aborted landing at Japan's Okayama airport at the weekend.
Pilots had to manually wind down the landing gear after an indicator lamp in the cockpit suggested the automated system had failed and the wheels were not properly down. The plane landed on its second attempt.
ANA said it was investigating, assisted by Boeing, which has refused to confirm the problem was with a hydraulic valve. "We are not sure what the problem was, but we are investigating," an airline spokesman told the news agency Reuters.
The aircraft, one of two new Dreamliners delivered to ANA less than two weeks ago, is flying again. It is being used on domestic routes for a trial period, before being switched to international services.
