Heavy snow across the UK has led to the closure of Gatwick and
Edinburgh airports and disruption at others.
Gatwick said the runway would remain closed until at least 6am
tomorrow (Thursday).
It told passengers they should not set out for the airport and to
check directly with their airline for flight information.
Edinburgh Airport said it expects its runway will be closed until
at least 6pm this evening (Wednesday).
Aberdeen and Glasgow airports remain open but flights are suffering
some delays.
Newcastle Airport is reporting some disruption and is warning
passengers to be prepared for changes to scheduled arrivals and
departures.
The Met Office has warned of more heavy snow in the East Midlands,
Yorkshire and Humber and the North East.
In the South East, up to 15cm fell in some areas and more snow is
expected throughout the day, possible affecting London.
A spokeswoman for Heathrow said at present the airport remains open
and is only seeing minor disruption caused by delays and
cancellations yesterday and from the closure of other
airports.
