More UK airports close as heavy snow continues

Gatwick, Southampton, Edinburgh, London City, Humberside, and Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield airports are all closed this morning as severe wintry weather continues to sweep across the UK.

After more heavy snow overnight and with forecasts of further snow, Gatwick will remain closed until at least 6am tomorrow (Friday).

The airport said there will be no flights arriving or departing today, and passengers can expect further disruption, delays and cancellations as long as the severe weather continues.

It advised passengers not to travel to the airport today and said those scheduled to fly tomorrow should check with their airline before travelling to the airport.

Southampton Airport said it will be closed until at least 2pm today due to the adverse weather.

Edinburgh Airport had hoped to re-open this morning but remains closed until at least midday today.

London City Airport's runway is closed until noon as snow flurries continue to accumulate on the runway.

Aberdeen and Glasgow airports remain open but flights are suffering some delays.

Newcastle Airport is reporting some disruption and is warning passengers to be prepared for changes to scheduled arrivals and departures.

Heathrow is open but is warning of cancellations and delays caused by disruption at other airports.
